Star Belly Spread 4

I finished half of spread 4 today. The other half is a vignette so it shouldn't take too long. Here's the text for the spread:
"Ada and Star Belly would play together for hours. In the daytime, when the universe in the sky was hidden and Ada couldn't see the stars, she would stare inside Star Belly's tummy, imagining she was an astronaut floating through space."
I'm trying to decide on a style for the book and choose between paint or pencil. I prefer pencil as I find it more atmospheric, but full colour probably works better for a children's book.

Star Belly and the Big Crunch

This is a spread from a children's book proposal I'm currently working on. It will be travelling to the Bologna book fair in a couple of weeks in search of a publisher.

I worked with my boyfriend to come up with a story about my character Star Belly.
The good thing about having a character with a universe in his belly are the easy titles which follow...

Star Belly Poops a Nebula
Star Belly and the Heat Death of the Universe
Star Belly Dabbles in Dark Energy
The world Doesn't Revolve Around You, Star Belly!

In the end we decided on Star Belly and the Big Crunch :)

Graham wrote the story and has done a great job. I'm really excited about it and I hope I can create some great visuals to complement his text.
Here's the Synopsis...

"There is nothing Ada loves more than outer space. There's also nothing she's more afraid of than other people finding out and making fun of her. When her best friend Star Belly falls ill and starts farting planets and burping nebulae all over her house, Ada races against time to save him before anyone finds the universe in the living room. Can Ada solve the problem inside Star Belly's tummy on her own?"

Snowglobe Project

I recently began work on a fun collaborative project with a couple of friends which takes place inside a snowglobe. Here are a couple of initial concept pieces. The project is also providing a good starting platform for learning Adobe Flash.
The first environment I'm exploring is the library. So far I've just been messing around with the alpha settings in the timeline, playing with the atmosphere. My next step will be to create moving elements and animated characters.
